CGMC-BOBSON was established in 1987 as a supplier of “Bobson” brand jeans. The company was formed by Victor Tan with several (4) partners. From 1987 to 2000, its primary business activity was as a store concessionaire in various department stores such as SM, Robinsons, Gaisano, etc. In 2001, Victor Tan became the sole shareholder of CGMC-BOBSON when the partners sold their respective shares to the same.
Bobson is proud of having achieved tremendous growth nationwide through partnerships with leading department stores (over 250 outlets at its peak in 2005; 32 of which were boutiques).

April 2002, Bobson’s hip hop inspired apparels was introduced to the market – “The Cosmic Clan”
More and more celebrities were dressed in Bobson Fashion – Wilma Doesnt, Keempee de Leon, Aiza Marquez, Gary Estrada, Albert Martinez, Rufa Mae Quinto and Luis Jalandoni.
In September 2002 when the new Bobson Cebu office started operations.
In November 2002, Nancy Castiliogne was launched as the new Bobson female endorser.
|2003||Bobson’s 22nd boutique opens at Robinsons Place, Los Baños, Laguna.
“Summer trippin” campaign was launched. The season’s collection was released supported with the “Free Duffle Bag” promotion.
Tie-up with Smart Communications from July – September 2003.
“Bare yourself and be bold. Unleash your Desire and Fury to a new Delight with Bobson Spritzers.” The first fragrance collection for Bobson Elements line was launched in July 1.
Another concession was added in Robinsons Plaridel in November.
Tie-up with Touch Mobile for a sales promotion in December. 100 pcs. of Nokia 3315 were given away.
|2004||In January, a boutique was opened in Elizabeth Mall, Cebu City coinciding with the celebration of the Sinulog Festival.
In May, Bobson sponsored the movie of its endorser, Mr. Aga Muhlach, by sponsoring it’s movie “All My Life”. During the series of mall shows, Bobson had a mini fashion show and gave away special prizes to the fans.
It was also in May when Bobson opened it’s 28th boutique in Sta. Lucia East Grandmall. Nancy Castiliogne did the ribbon cutting in the morning and Aga Muhlach visited the store in the afternoon.
In June, Aga Muhlach was launched as the Bobson icon. A new image of Aga that shows the more sexy look of the actor was featured on billboards nationwide.
The first Back to School campaign was also launched in June. Pretty Teen models where shot in campus situations that epitomizes the typical teen market of Bobson.
In celebratoin of College Basketball, Bobson sponsored the sold-out UAAP/NCAA special issue of Chalk Magazine. Selected hardcourt heartthrobs wore Bobson in their pictorial.
In September, VJ Karel Marquez and Taekwondo champ Japoy Lizardo signed as a newest and youngest endorsers of Bobson.
The “Keep it Real” campaign of the young endorsers was launched in October. Japoy and Karel were shown on images typical of a teen capturing their real-side beyond their celebrity status.
|2005||In July, Maja Salvador signed as a newest endorser of Bobson.
In August, John Lloyd Cruz signed as newest endorser of Bobson.
Bobson also opened additional stores in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, part of its continuing thrust for expansion to achieve company objectives.
There was significant sales growth of 20% for 2005 versus 2004.
|2006||In August, Maja Salvador visited the province of Bacolod to
celebrate the Maskara Festival.
In October, BOBSON-PBA Tie up. Bobson sponsor the entire PBA 32nd Season including the 2006-07 Philippine Cup which run from October 1, 2006 to February 2007, and 2007 Fiesta Conference which run from March to July 2007.
In October, Bobson pioneered the Live Mannequin Show simultaneously at SM Makatim, SM Fairview, SM Las Piñas and SM North EDSA.
In November, Bobson launched its first ever Loyalty promotion – Free Pants Promo. If a customer buys five (5) Bobson regular items, the customer gets 1 Free pants.
|2006||In November, commercial model Ms. Rhian Ramos signed the contract as the newest endorser of Bobson. The media launch was held in Ratsky’s Morato.
In December, Bobson’s new scent lines was introduced – “Heaven Scent” with three new variants, “Elisha”, “Althea” and “Raine”, all of which are names of angels.

|2007||In February, BOBSON 2006 PRA APPAREL FINALIST The PRA, DTI, and the OFR organizers awarded the 14 world-class retailers and BOBSON did it againas one fo the apparel finalist – small category.

In February, Bobson supported Ms. Rhian Ramos, by sponsoring it’s first movie “The Promise”. Bobson also gave away special prizes to the fans.
In March, Bobson finally launched a new and exciting line of fragrances fully inspired by Aga Mulach. Bobson introduced its new fragrance line, Denim Collection. This new line consist of three variants namely, Indigo, Dusk and Midnight.
In April, a tie up with Girlfriend Magazine, sponsoring their event at Convergy’s Makati. A night with live performances from Viva records talents and a fashion show.
In May, endorser Rhian Ramos was on the cover of Meg Magazine featuring Bobson’s summer collections.
It was also in May Rhian Ramos did the meet and greet in NE Pacific Mall and visited the Bobson Megacenter boutique.
